Just finished rewatching
Evan Almighty last night with continued enjoyment. It’s become a semi-favorite because of the profound theological thoughts I see therein.
My most inspirational comes right at the end of the picture when Evan, having returned to his normal demeanor, is having one final conversation with God, beneath what I see as a Baobab tree. I know it’s not really, but I’m projecting symbolism. In that conversation Evan tells God:
“I fought You every step of the way.” To which God replies:
“Yes, but you obeyed Me.”“I fought You.” “But you obeyed.” Powerful thoughts, particularly in terms of the Old Testament. No wonder I’m so taken with the Book of Job.
